SMA and Samsung are breaking new ground in the integration of heat pumps

Good news for homeowners as SMA and Samsung start to interlinking their communications and thus making it possible to integrate Samsung heating systems into SMA´s home energy management system. To do this, the two companies are using an innovative cloud-to-cloud solution that also allows PV systems with SMA inverters to be integrated into Samsung’s SmartThings smart home ecosystem. Users benefit from the sheer simplicity of incorporating heat pumps into their domestic energy systems, enabling them to become less dependent on rising energy prices.

“Our goal is to make it possible for all users to gain access to a secure and environmentally friendly energy supply with the solutions that we provide. The new cloud-to-cloud system from SMA and Samsung is another vital element of that process,” said Jan Van Laethem, Executive Vice President of SMA’s Home business segment. “The good thing for users is how simple it is to integrate Samsung Eco Heating Systems. Thanks to the interconnected communications for energy and smart home management, they can easily manage domestic appliances that generate and consume energy. SMA is once again demonstrating that it is a pioneer not just in solar solutions but also in energy management.”

“At Samsung, we are passionate about sustainability and innovation. That’s why we are excited to join forces with SMA, a global leader in photovoltaic and storage system technologies, to integrate our SmartThings Energy with SMA’s PV systems. This will allow our customers to enjoy a smart and efficient solution for heating and hot water, as well as to monitor and control their energy usage and carbon emissions.” said Chanwoo Park, Executive Vice President and Head of IoT Business group of the Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.

In addition to heat pumps, the SMA Sunny Home Manager 2.0 can be used to integrate energy generators, battery storage systems, wallboxes and home appliances such as washing machines into a smart energy management system. Thanks to self-learning algorithms and forecast-based meteorological data, the Sunny Home Manager manages all energy flows completely automatically, thereby optimizing the use of solar energy from the home’s own PV system. The smart energy manager is thus impressive worldwide — there are already more than 200,000 devices in use.

Everything you need to know about the Sunny Home Manager 2.0 and the smart SMA energy management system is available on the website.
